
The group policy editor will notify you of new updates without automatically installing them. So, only when you run Windows 10 Professional, Enterprise, or Education, you can use the Group Policy Editor to change the settings to prevent Windows 10 from automatically updating.

The Group Policy feature is not available in the Home edition. GaryDave, I am assuming you checked the box “get updates online” that is available at the very beginning of the installation. If you continue to have problems, you can run a Windows troubleshooter to find solutions.

Windows will avoid restarting itself between those times. By clicking Change active hours in the Update window, you can set an interval of time during the day when you’re most likely using your computer.
